The birth place, home and revolution headquarters of Eleftherios Venizelos are found in Therisso village as well as a museum dedicated to the great politician. The “Son of Psiloritis” who encouraged the rebels and revolutionary committee in their successful uprising against the Turks, resulting in liberating Crete with its own independence, currency and flag before joining with the rest of Greece.
